ShareShift vs Cloudiway
Cloudiway sells single-use per-user licences with a 90-day delta window and runs the migration from its cloud. ShareShift is a reusable per-organisation licence that runs inside your network.

Cloudiway is one of the more affordable SaaS migration tools, and its model is simple: a per-user licence, used once, with a 90-day window for delta passes. Secondary sources in 2026 put the standard licence at about US$11 per user and the premium at about US$17, with a US$580 bundle of 20 licences also reported. Cloudiway itself does not publish a full price list, so treat those figures as indicative.
For a 250-user tenant that is roughly US$2,750 to US$4,250 for one project, which is close to ShareShift Annual at $2,995. The difference is what you get for it: a ShareShift licence is reusable for every project into that organisation for a year, has no delta window, includes three workers with unlimited concurrent jobs, and never routes your content through a vendor cloud. For a single short project the monthly plan at $499 is usually cheaper than either.
What each tool gives you
| Area | Cloudiway | ShareShift |
|---|---|---|
| Fidelity | Sold per user for tenant to tenant projects. SharePoint list, page and navigation fidelity not verified by us; ask for a scoped demonstration on your content. | File shares, SharePoint Online including lists, columns, content types, pages and navigation, OneDrive, Teams with private channels and chat archives, and Planner. Versions, authors and timestamps preserved. |
| Pause and resume | Delta passes are supported within the 90-day licence window. Pause and resume of a running job not stated in the materials we checked. | Every step is persisted. Pause, stop, schedule and resume on any worker, with incremental re-runs that keep version history and no time window. |
| Pricing model | Per user, single use, 90-day delta window. About US$11 standard and US$17 premium per user, and US$580 per 20-licence bundle, per secondary sources in 2026. Not published by Cloudiway. | Per organisation, reusable: $499 a month or $2,995 a year, three workers included, extra workers $500 a year. |
| Teams | Teams migration is offered; conversation and private chat handling not verified by us. | Standard and private channels with conversation history, authors and timestamps, chat archives and Planner. |
| MSP licensing | Per-user licences bought per client project; bundles of 20 reported. | MSP plan: ten client organisation slots and ten workers for $7,995 a year, with per-client and white-label reports. |
| Data caps | Per user rather than per gigabyte. Licence is single use and expires 90 days after the delta window opens. | Unlimited data, unlimited re-runs, no time window inside the licence term. |
| Deployment | SaaS. The migration runs in Cloudiway's cloud and content passes through it. | Worker-only. Workers run inside your network and push directly to Microsoft-provided containers in the destination tenant; our licence server sees aggregate counts only. |
Cloudiway figures from federated.directory (April 2026) and epcgroup.net (August 2026), both secondary sources; Cloudiway does not publish a full price list. ShareShift prices exclude tax.

Where Cloudiway is stronger
Cloudiway has a real place in the market and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. In fairness:
- Small tenants: at about US$11 to US$17 per user, a 50-user project may cost under US$1,000, less than a ShareShift Annual licence. Below roughly 100 users the per-user model tends to win.
- Nothing to install: Cloudiway runs entirely in its cloud. ShareShift needs at least one worker machine inside your network, which is the price of never letting a vendor handle your content.
- Source breadth we have not verified: if you need sources outside file shares, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams and Planner, confirm them with Cloudiway.
- Mail and identity: ShareShift moves collaboration content only. If your project is mostly mailboxes, look at a mail-focused tool.
The parts that made people look for an alternative
- Worker-only: content never passes through our cloud, and we are never a processor of it.
- Pause, stop, schedule and resume on any worker, with incremental re-runs that keep version history.
- One flat price per organisation, unlimited data, three workers, from $499 a month with no commitment.
- Lists, columns, content types, pages and navigation, not just documents; Teams private channels and chat archives; Planner.
- Pro at $4,995 a year: eight workers and three organisation slots, half of ShareGate Pro.
- Ten client organisations under one $7,995 a year MSP licence.
Questions people ask before switching
What does a 90-day delta window mean?
After the initial copy, Cloudiway allows delta passes for a limited period, reported as 90 days, after which the single-use licence is spent. ShareShift's incremental re-runs have no such window: run as many as you need for the life of the licence.
Is Cloudiway cheaper than ShareShift?
For small tenants, usually yes: the per-user figures reported for Cloudiway make a 50-user project cheaper than ShareShift Annual at $2,995. From a few hundred users, or across several projects, the reusable per-organisation licence costs less, and the monthly plan at $499 covers a single short project.
Why does it matter where the migration runs?
With a SaaS tool your files, permissions and user identities pass through the vendor's infrastructure, which makes the vendor a processor of your data and adds a party to your security review. ShareShift is worker-only: content goes from your worker straight into Microsoft-provided storage in your destination tenant.
Can ShareShift finish a migration Cloudiway started?
Yes. ShareShift re-runs are incremental, so it can be pointed at a destination another tool has partly populated and will copy only what is new or changed, keeping version history.
