Terms of service
Last updated 7 September 2026. These terms are between you and Cameron Shields, trading as ShareShift ("we", "us"). Plain English is intended; where a term is ambiguous the plain reading applies.
1. What you are buying
A subscription to use the ShareShift software on the number of registered worker machines your plan includes, for one destination organisation (or the number of client organisation slots on the MSP plan), for the term you chose. Data volume and the number of concurrent jobs per worker are not limited.
2. Licence keys and workers
Your key is issued to your account and may be used by your organisation and its staff or contractors acting for it. Each machine that runs a migration registers as a worker and holds a lease while it runs. You may release and re-register workers freely. You may not share a key outside your organisation, resell it, or use one subscription to migrate content for organisations other than the ones it is bound to. MSP subscriptions may serve the number of client organisations purchased.
3. Term, renewal and cancellation
Monthly subscriptions renew each month and can be cancelled at any time from the portal; access continues to the end of the paid month. Annual and MSP subscriptions renew each year unless cancelled before the renewal date. When a subscription ends, workers finish in-flight packages and stop starting new ones within fifteen minutes. There is a three-day grace period after a failed payment before the licence is suspended.
4. Refunds
If ShareShift cannot migrate a workload it is advertised to support and we cannot resolve it within ten business days of you reporting it with logs, we will refund the current term in full. Otherwise fees are non-refundable, except where the law of your country gives you a right we cannot exclude.
5. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the Microsoft 365 tenants you connect, for having the right to move the content you migrate, for the app registration and certificate you create, and for reviewing the pre-migration assessment and post-migration report. Migration changes data in your destination tenant; keep your source intact until you have verified the result.
6. Your content
ShareShift is worker-only. We never receive, store or process your content or item-level metadata, and we are not a data processor for it. What our licence server does receive is set out on the security page. Account and billing details are handled under our privacy policy.
7. Support and availability
Monthly plans are supported through the documentation and the assessor's remediation guidance. Annual and MSP plans include email support with a first response within one business day (UK). The software depends on Microsoft's migration APIs; where Microsoft throttles, changes or withdraws an API we will do our best to adapt, but we cannot guarantee outcomes that depend on Microsoft.
8. Liability
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the software or these terms is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for loss of data in your source or destination tenants, loss of profit, or indirect loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.
9. Changes and law
We may update these terms with thirty days' notice by email; continuing to use the software after that is acceptance. Prices are fixed for the term you have paid. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
